This was lovely! Snorted out loud at Beano being sick - both my labradors have been/are relentless pukers to the point where I never travel without a large palette knife and Vanish spray. My parents had a Jack Russell/Yorkie cross who was terribly car sick and always managed to avoid the tactically-positioned towel, no matter how deftly you manoeuvred it. Vom-covered trousers it was.
A palette knife! Top tip. That time I had to use the socks from my gum boots to clean up, thanking the Lord for leather car seats and that my friends were so doggy and relaxed.
Skodas are fab. We’ve had various Skodas over the years. Our first was a terracotta (read Orange) Estelle because it was the first brand new car we could afford. A character-building car. Our second Estelle was white with five gears but we could only get it into fifth gear by swearing at it.
I loved the image of you waiting outside with your belongings like someone from “the highland clearances”. I snorted so loudly that my terriers barked in unison. But luckily, without being sick in their baskets.
I did actually put a towel on the windscreen on Sunday night as it was frosty and I had an early start... (not at all embarrassing)
What a wonderful article. Please wear the Audrey Hepburn scarf, whatever the car. 🌟✨💫✨🌟
Hahaha, oh alright then I will. The Hepburn factor maybe a bit diluted by the Skoda, but we’ll see…

Thank you, I really enjoyed your post! And congratulations on getting your licence, and your car, returned. I’ve subscribed for more 🌻
Thank you! I'm off to Halfords now for some terrier-proof restraint...
Wishing you and Beano many incident-free driving adventures! You'll probably want matching Audrey Hepburn headscarves.
Ha! Will you tell Beano or will I?
Perhaps give him a choice - scarf, or glassy-eyed sheep in the back seat?

From one Mother to another thank you for giving your daughter such a linguistic skill - now I know where she gets her talent from!
Loved reading about your brave journey. Can we enjoy a double dose of entertaining reading every Tuesday going forward?
By the way I love Parsons. 👌
ah thank you so much! I'm thinking Thursdays ... Parsons are the best and the funniest dogs.
Thursday good - two mornings to look forward to! 👍
Congrats on getting your wheels back! How about a pair of false eyelashes for your headlights? It would certainly add a touch of whimsy.
